Melrose Place Star Pleads Not Guilty to Manslaughter

melrose place starThe star from the original Melrose Place continues to make headlines following her DUI car crash last June in New Jersey, which resulted in the death another motorist. Amy Locane-Bovenizer is facing manslaughter charges. The 39-year-old mother of two pleaded not guilty to aggravated manslaughter and assault by auto charges, reports say. Somerset County prosecutors say Locane-Bovenizer's SUV hit the vehicle of 60-year-old Fred Seeman as he was turning into his driveway, breaking 10 of his ribs and killing his wife. Officers detected alcohol on Locane-Bovenizer's breath and arrested her, but she was shortly freed after posting $50,000 bail. We talked about this subject before, but it never ceases to amaze and anger us.  We come across many people from different walks of life in our Traffic School

Celebrities often drop by our Hollywood classes, showing that even stars get traffic tickets. Everyone slips up with speeding now and then. But fame brings **big responsibilities.** Reckless driving, especially drunk driving, isn’t OK for anyone. It's even worse seeing a star in the news for it. Seriously, if you're having a few drinks, hire a limo—you can totally afford it!

The Best & Worst CA Airports

The traffic doesn’t end on the roads in California. The Golden State has one of the busiest air ways in the entire country. With some of the most populated cities in the nation and vast amount of state territory, California is a must stop destination for tourist, travelers, and people seeking gold. Although the last one might be a few hundred years too late.

The airports can be daunting, if you don’t know anything about them. That’s why we’re getting off the roads and into the sky to tell you about the best and worst airports in California.

Los Angeles International (LAX)

LAX is the most popular airport in California and the second most popular airport in the country, Los Angeles International airport is consistently booked with incoming and outgoing passengers. It’s also known for its construction zones, bustling traffic, and pricey foods.

Things can get chaotic here. So, if you want to avoid flying into a busy airport, then LAX might be a bad option.

San Francisco International (SFO)

Located south of downtown San Francisco, the San Francisco International airport is the busiest airport in northern California. This airport has its share of art installations and visual appeal. It’s also home to its very own museum that was established in 1980.

SFO is a moderately busy in relation to LAX, but it doesn’t have the same reputation as its southern counterpart. San Francisco International, when prepared, will be a breeze to navigate for any airway passenger.

John Wayne Airport (SNA)

If you need to touch base near the Disneyland Resort, John Way Airport is your ticket. This is LAX’s smaller neighbor who receives around 9 million passengers a year.

It’s busy, but it’s not that busy.

If you fly into this airport, you’ll also get to see the statue of John Wayne himself greeting you on a safe landing.

San Diego International (SAN)

San Diego International airport is a great destination for anyone who wants to visit California’s southern border. Its clean and open airport is a great place to fly in for large parties and individual passengers.

One fact you might not know about this airport is the sectioned nesting ground for endangered species. Also, San Diego International airport was ranked #2 in best airports in the world.

San Jose International (SJC)

San Jose is the largest city in the Bay Area, but San Jose International is the smallest airport in the area. Compared to others, San Jose International has received the fewest accidents in the past 30 years.

It’s a safe landing, take off, and it’s a smaller airport. If you’re traveling to San Jose, then consider taking SJC.

Sacramento International (SMF)

Ah, yes! The capital city of California. SMF is the international airport for this metropolitan area. Known for its cleanliness and sleek design, the Sacramento International airport is a sight to admire.

You won’t have any problems navigating through SMF. As long as you have all your traveling documentation and your luggage is light, passing through Sacramento will be a fun, casual experience.

Vandenberg Air Force Base (VBG)

The Vandenberg Air Force Base is a fantastic airport. You’ll see local flights, international flights, and… outer planetary flights.

Actually, it’s a space and missile testing base with the goal of placing satellites into polar orbit. It’s not open for commercial passengers, but it is a great airport, because it’s Air Force owned and operated. So, unless you’re a long-range ballistic missile, maybe consider flying into somewhere else.

Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR)

Did you know that Hollywood and Burbank have their own airport? Neither did we! If you’re aiming to fly into an area for a quick film pitch before your noon lunch, then the Hollywood-Burbank Airport is your destination.

Located north of Downtown Los Angeles, BUR is light on air traffic, because it’s also a local flight only airport. All the big airliners are flying into LAX.

But, if flying isn’t an option and you’re afraid of receiving a traffic ticket when you drive, just remember that Myimprov.com has your back. We have the best traffic school online California has to offer.

If you enroll in a defensive driving course, you can lower the price of annoying tickets that you accumulate from not flying to your next destination.

Top 6 Hollywood Tourist Questions

Once upon a time, I used to work for the oldest and most popular tour company in Hollywood. It was your quintessential, guided, bus tour company that offered tours tailored for visitors from all over the world. They traveled through the trenches of crazy LA traffic to offer various world-famous tours such as:

1. The Movie Stars’ Homes Tour
2. The Grand Tour of Los Angeles (showcasing famous and historical Los Angeles landmarks)
3. The Movie and Television Studio Tours (such as Warner Brothers and Paramount)
4. The Theme Parks of Southern California Tour (including Disneyland and Universal Studios),
5. The “Where Movies were Shot Tour” (showing movie locations around Los Angeles)
6. Trip to Tijuana Tour for shopping,
7. The Haunted Hollywood Tour
8. The TMZ Hollywood Tour.

I worked for this Hollywood tourist company as the reservations supervisor for over five years, so I spoke to tons of tourists in my time. However, there were a few frequently-asked-questions that would indubitably pop up during the phone calls. Here are the top 6:

1. “Do we get to go into the celebrity homes?”

Who in their right mind thinks that they can just walk into people’s homes? Would you like for a tour bus full of people to just show up at your house and go into your home? The obvious answer is no. We just drive by the homes and give general information and facts about the celebrity. These people live in these homes. This is their private space. Why do you think this is okay? Just because we drive a very large, noisy bus through the neighborhood during morning and other hours doesn’t make it okay for us to drive the heard of passengers through the actual living quarters.

2. “What hours is Hollywood open?”

Hollywood is a city. I know some people may refer to it as Hollywoodland, but it is not a theme park or an attraction, you can get traffic tickets and have to go to traffic school to take care of them. It does not have any opening or closing hours. It does not get locked up at night. You can travel the streets at any hour of the day or night (although not recommended – there are a lot of crazies in Hollywood). Does your city get locked up at night?

3. “When is the best time to go on a tour to see a celebrity?”

These are people. They go out and about at all times of the day and night. This is not something that can be predicted. They are not like zoo animals that we put out on display at certain times of the day. What do you expect? Yes, make sure to go on a tour before 6:00 PM because we take all the A-list celebs off display at 8:00 PM, so they can get their beauty rest, but we let the B-list stay out later. It does not work that way.

4. “Why are there rides and shows at Universal Studios?”

We had people that actually went to Universal Studios and wondered why there were rides and shows. All they wanted was a studio tour, so I told them to go on the studio tour and find something else to do for the rest of their time until we pick them back up, but it is kind of a waste of money if that is all they want to do there. $105 spent and just doing a 1-hour tram tour is a bit crazy. Honestly, I don’t know how there are people in the world that are not aware that Universal Studios is an actual theme park or at least did a little research before going there.

5. “Can you tell me where (insert celebrity name here) lives?”

Firstly, I have no idea where anybody lives and quite frankly, I don’t really care where any of them live. That is the tour guide’s job to know, not mine. I am just here to answer your questions and make reservations. Secondly, the whole point in our business is for you to pay us to show you where they live. Why would we give this information out to you for free? Isn’t there an app for that?

6. “Can I get out during the tour at the home of a celebrity that I like?”

No, you are not allowed to get off. You cannot pay them a visit. Leave them alone. This would be called trespassing and it’s kind of illegal. Sorry.
